Newsgroups, often called Usenet, are a collection of discussion groups and news. Each newsgroup operates as a bulletin board devoted to a specific topic.
To get involved in a newsgroup you must have a newsreader which is included in most browsers. You must also specify a news server for your newsgroup software. A news server is a computer on the Internet that stores newsgroup messages.
You newsgroup software allows you to subscribe, or "subscribe" to newsgroups. You can respond to newsgroup messages, or create a new topic for discussion.
